Guiding Jobs in Australian EcoTourism

Just as with our African Safari Guide Training courses where students / guests can obtain the official accredited FGASA level 1 certificate and potentially use this towards a career as an African Safari Guide, students get a similar opportunity on the Australian guiding courses we offer.

On successful completion of the course, and provided the students pass all the assessments, a Certificate III can be obtained. Currently the ecotourism industry in Australia is booming and there are many jobs around. Due to this, for the past year 85% of our graduating students have found employment within a month of completion. Coupled with the fact that you did it with Ecotraining (Untamed Tracks), which has a great brand name in Australia, students will be very well placed to find a job post completion.

Remember courses are 5% discounted through Afreco Tours too!

All camps are now a maximum of 7 days, we no longer do the 28 days

Did you know that Kakadu National Park is the home to three species of crocodile?

All of which you could be luck enough to see and learn about on one of our safari guide courses or adventure trips through Afreco!

The area is home to the Estuarine or Salt Water Crocodile, the Freshwater Crocodile and a third subspecies of this called the Pygmy Crocodile that lives mostly in the escarpments of Kakadu.

The largest crocodilians on Earth are the saltwater crocodiles! They are excellent swimmers and have often been spotted far out at sea. Average-size males reach 17 feet (5 meters) and 1,000 pounds (450 kilograms), but specimens 23 feet (7 meters) long and weighing 2,200 pounds (1,000 kilograms) are not uncommon!!

Saltwater crocs, or “salties,” as Australians affectionately refer to them, have an enormous range, populating the brackish and freshwater regions of eastern India, Southeast Asia, and northern Australia. Classic opportunistic predators, they lurk patiently beneath the surface near the water’s edge, waiting for potential prey to stop for a sip of water. They’ll feed on anything they can get their jaws on, including water buffalo, monkeys, wild boar, and even sharks. Without warning, they explode from the water with a thrash of their powerful tails, grasp their victim, and drag it back in, holding it under until the animal drowns.

Population estimates range from 200,000 to 300,000 worldwide, and they are considered at low risk for extinction. But saltwater croc hides are valued above all other crocodilians, and illegal hunting, habitat loss, and antipathy toward the species because of its reputation as a man-eater continue to put pressure on the population.
